SUMMARY

The Line Cook prepares food to order in our current Prairie Pub and will grow with our new restaurant outlets, which will open later in 2024 as part of the casinos overall expansion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES
  • Roles models Prairie Flower Casinos Mission and Values at all times.
  • Follows the prep list to get ready for the shift.
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves to be organized and easily accessible.
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking.
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
  • Prepares simple dishes such as salads, sandwiches, and nachos. Will be responsible for sauteing, broiling, deep fat frying, preparing stocks/soups/sauces.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
  • Receives inventory, moves, and lifts food and beverage products and supplies.
  • Ensures proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labeling, dating, stocking, storing. rotating and checking temperature of products.
  • Assists with front counter as needed while providing excellent guest service.
  • Follows all safety standards and quickly reports safety hazards or concerns to management.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain appropriate Food Handling Certificate.
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Outstanding example of and a credit to Prairie Flower Casino.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
  • At least 3 years of cooking experience in an al a carte kitchen required.
  • Experience in sauteing, broiling, deep fat frying, cutting and chopping.
  • An advanced background in braising preparing stocks, soups and sauces.
  • Working knowledge of fryers, slicers, stoves, knife skills, ovens and all kitchen equipment.
  • Must be able to follow read and follow recipes.
  • A strong understanding of sanitation procedures to include the proper cooking temperatures.
  • Vocational or culinary degree preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to communicate and work closely with the team to meet the needs of the kitchen. Must demonstrate the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly and outgoing manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, increasing to loud when on the casino floor.
  • Must be able to operate in mentally stressful situations.
