FM is focused on bringing a broad skillset to serve as a true strategic partner to Carlyle’s investment teams (“the business”). The Fund Management team 1) partners with segment / fund leadership in setting future strategic direction and decision making, primarily focusing on financial and executional considerations, 2) collaborates with the business to ensure strong risk management, seamless execution and high performance, 3) connects the business to the broader organization to enable the business to leverage the full breadth of Carlyle resources, 4) supports business and investor relations teams in proactively managing and growing investor relationships, and 5) brings a combined finance and operational skillset in understanding the business and managing risk / compliance.Successful members of the FM team are highly adaptable and able to shift gears quickly, often juggling many high-profile priorities under tight deadlines. The FM team is a collection of very detail-oriented self-starters that possess intellectual curiosity and an ability to think creatively.Position Summary:The Fund Management team is responsible for the operation of Carlyle’s Global Private Equity and Global Credit funds. Managers within Fund Management are assigned to one or more investment funds and are responsible for supporting all aspects of the funds’ operations including quarterly valuations, investment funding and execution, investor reporting, compliance, tax and legal matters as well as internal financial planning and analysis for associated business units.ResponsibilitiesQuarterly Fund Performance and Investor ReportingReview financial valuations and exit forecasts for fund portfolio companies prepared by investment teams. Coordinate with the Corporate Accounting Valuation Group on quarterly valuation deliverables, including reviewing exit forecasts for the quarterly forecasting process. Prioritize and coordinate the organization of quarterly valuation deliverables and support.Provide ad hoc analysis on portfolio valuations, including allocation and scenario modelling for Fund CFO and senior leadershipTrack and maintain appropriate controls and record-keepingCoordinate with external valuation reviewers on quarterly valuation reviews, as well as Lead the coordination of the valuation reviews as part of the quarterly and annual external audit cycleDrive timeline and review Quarterly updates of the fund and the underlying portfolio companies for investors with minimal supervision. Support Fund CFOs and Segment CFO in preparing presentations and ad hoc financial analysis.Coordinating with legal, compliance, investor relations, and external counsel to manage fundraising efforts for new funds and co-investment offerings, including preparation of marketing materials and review of junior analysts’ responses to due diligence requestsSupport the FM Associate Vice President in process management of FM aspects of fundraising (coordination of closings, entity formation and coordinating across teams for legal, tax, and lender diligence)Support the FM Associate Vice President and Legal in negotiations and legal review of fund documentsFund Forecasting/BudgetingProvide support for the preparation of annual fund operating budgets through completion of operating revenue and expense projections. Perform quarterly budget-to-actual variance analysis.Coordination and review of key performance metrics and detailed data requests on a quarterly and ad hoc basis for Portfolio Review meetings, etc. across teamsFund Operations & Transaction executionLiaise with partnership accounting, fund management administrative consultants, fund counsel, tax, and fund coordination functions to lead the process of transaction execution (new investments, exits, restructures) including documentation and administration.Assist with legal and compliance matters, including liaising with external service providers regarding reporting requirements, managing the formation process and reviewing structure documents for the entity legal management system.Support Legal and Tax in review of transaction structuringManage liquidity for the funds and oversee the process and timeline of borrowings, capital calls and distributionsReview waterfall calculationsQualificationsEducation & CertificatesAccounting, Finance or Economics concentration, preferredCPA/CFA, preferredProfessional ExperienceMinimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience, requiredAnalytical capabilities and the accounting and financial principles related to private equity and the ability to apply the principles to the tasks at handStrong and confident communication with Investment Professionals, Investor Relations Professionals, and other Investor Service team members (Internal) as well as Investors and Service Providers (External)Demonstrated record of expertise in quantitative analysis and financial modellingStrong accounting or financial background with the capability and desire to learn the accounting and financial principles related to private equityAdvanced Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) skills requiredAbility to operate in a demanding and fast paced environment and balance multiple tasksSignificant overtime as well as availability outside of normal business hours required frequently, especially during quarterly valuation cycles, in connection with deal closings, and during fundraising periodsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf-starter with an ownership mentalityStrong interpersonal skills a mustWell-rounded with strong organizational skills and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a teamAbility to succeed in a matrix organization with multiple areas of responsibilitiesHigh integrity and dedication to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary materialThe compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.The anticipated base salary range for this role is $120,000 to $130,000.In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs.
