Medical Technologist II – Blood Bank (Evenings) Employment Type: Full time Shift: Evening Shift (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.) with rotating weekends & holidays Location: Silver Spring, MD Position Highlights Competitive salary Recruitment Bonus for eligible applicants Benefits – Medical, Dental & Vision, PTO, Free Parking, Metro Access, Tuition Reimbursement, 403(b) Flexible work schedules Career growth opportunities Location: Holy Cross Health has two hospitals and four healthcare centers all a short driving distance from Washington DC and Baltimore, MD Description Perform routine and specialized procedures, review and approve clinical test results for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients in accordance with established protocol for a laboratory performing high complexity procedures as defined by the standards of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988. Holy Cross Health's Medical Laboratories provide complete testing needs for all patients who receive care at Holy Cross Hospital, Holy Cross Germantown Hospital and Holy Cross Health Centers. The laboratories are equipped with state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation and staffed by a team of professionals who strive to exceed physician and patient requirements. Responsibilities Work with infectious and hazardous substances. Perform major and minor instrument troubleshooting. Ensure remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications. Monitor testing analyses and specimen examination to maintain acceptable levels of analytic performance. Delay patient test results until corrective actions are completed and the test system is functioning properly. Provide orientation to testing personnel. Incorporate Trinity’s mission and goals and the Organization Integrity Plan into daily work. Perform other related duties as assigned. Submit to fingerprinting and FBI criminal history check. What You Will Need Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology (Medical Technology), biological, chemical or related science; and satisfactory completion of a clinical laboratory educational rotation. Or a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics and successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technologist program. Or a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, including 16 semester hours of biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours of chemistry, one semester of mathematics, and one year of full‑time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology and/or Clinical Microscopy within the last ten years, supervised by a pathologist or appropriately board‑certified medical scientist and a certified medical technologist. More than three (3) years of verifiable experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Documented ASCP, AMT, or NCA certification as a Medical Technologist (required). Certification‑eligible employees must pass the certification/qualifying examination from a credentialing agency within 12 months of employment or revert to Medical Technologist I. Previously certified Medical Technologists who met the Department of Health Education and Welfare (HEW) certified MT requirements will be considered. Strong knowledge of laboratory methodologies, interpretation of results, quality assurance, and CMS regulations. Ability to work in harmony with other personnel. Must have visual acuity, including depth perception and color discrimination. Basic computer literacy. Strong oral and written English language communication skills. Pay Range Pay range: $32.12 – $48.18 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
