Senior Engineer, Controls and Actuation Systems Raytheon is seeking a Senior Engineer, Controls and Actuation Systems. This role is based in Tucson, AZ and requires a U.S. citizen with a transferable DoD Secret clearance. Location: 3360 Hemisphere Loop, Tucson, AZ 85706, USA. Date Posted: 2025-11-10. Position Role Type: Onsite. Citizenship and Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship is required. A transferable DoD Secret clearance is required prior to start date. The Precision Control Actuation System (PCAS) department is seeking a Senior mechanical design engineer to support development, build, and verification of specialty control actuation systems, collaborating across disciplines. What You Will Do Provide mechanical engineering support for specialty CAS, including integration and testing of the CAS and CAS subassemblies. Perform detailed mechanical design, test design and execution, root‑cause and corrective actions, design updates, and variance processing. Work autonomously with limited oversight, coach and review the work of lower‑level professionals. What You Will Learn Hands‑on hardware work in PCAS dedicated lab space. Exposure to engineering builds, hardware integration, tuning, and verification. Access to a technical learning environment with control system technology experts. Qualifications You Must Have Degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (or 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering or 3 years with an advanced degree). Experience in mechanism design or flight control systems for aerospace applications. Qualifications We Prefer Experience with aerospace control systems, verification and characterization tests, and test programs. Experience collaborating with major sub‑tier suppliers. Experience with structured problem‑solving approaches (Fault Trees, fishbone diagrams). Experience with Creo modeling and Windchill/cPDM. Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, Electrical Engineering or Physics. Basic proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink. Hardware integration experience. Systems engineering design and development. Experience with dSPACE Real‑time test systems. Ability to estimate project effort and collaborate with distributed teams.
