Fleet Mechanic

Our Mechanics are the backbone of our fleet. As such they perform preventive maintenance and repairs to our fleet of trucks and equipment to ensure our vehicles are ready to service our customersDuties and Responsibilities:Diagnose and Repair vehicle systems, including air brakes, electrical, hydraulic, engine and emission related equipment.Diagnose and repair specialty equipmentRespond to road calls or breakdowns when necessaryOrder Parts and Supplies as necessaryUtilize Dossier Fleet Management Software to record repairs and maintenanceAssist the regional fleet manager or supervisor to facilitate resolution of fleet related issues.Perform Preventive Maintenance on various types of vehicles and equipmentPerform inspections and document conditions on all equipmentAssist in coordinating repairs with outside vendorsEnsure that all Federal, State, and Local EPA, DOT, ANSI, OSHA and Safety laws and regulations concerning fleet operations are adhered toOther duties as requiredWork EnvironmentYou are regularly exposed outside weather conditions, non-hazardous fumes and noiseMust be comfortable working independentlyInteraction with customersKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to read and interpret documents including Company policies and procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, maps and road signs.Ability to speak, cooperate and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and management.Ability to work independently and manage pressure to meet deadlines.Basic computer literacy including email and internet skills.Ability to perform basic math functions.Company Offered BenefitsCompetitive starting hourly rates + opportunity to earn overtimeOpportunity to earn a quarterly safety bonusCompany Paid Med-Card RenewalsRoom for GrowthMedical, dental and vision insuranceEmployer paid life insuranceEmployee discount for services offered in your areaMatching 401K6 paid holidays, 2 paid floating holidays and generous paid time off planCompany Paid UniformsAnnual Safety Boot StipendAt least 5+ years' working in a fleet or transportation industry with direct experience in medium/heavy truck repairMust have a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving recordMust hold a Class A or B CDL with ability and willingness to obtain a tanker endorsement if requestedPrior experience working in a fleet or transportation industry is required.Proficiency in Microsoft Office -Excel, Outlook is preferred.Experience using fleet management software, databases, and web programs preferred.Strong time-management/organizational skillsStrong attention to detailMaintain a high level of integrity and make ethical decisionsWelding experience is preferredAbility to successfully pass DOT drug screen, medical certification, physical exam and road examsMust be able to operate in a drug-free workplaceMust be able to meet physical demands evaluationThe base pay range for this role is estimated to be $35.00 - $42.00 an hour or more depending if the candidate has a valid CDL at the time of posting.
