BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES/ALCOHOL and OTHER DRUG STUDIES: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) San Diego Community College District Position Type: Adjunct Location: District Wide Closing Date: Open Until Filled Major Responsibilities Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment may be divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction and create an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues. Minimum Qualifications Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions. Any Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR, Any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR, The equivalent. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff. Desired Qualifications / Additional Credentials California Community College Instructor Credential in Psychology (valid for life). Foreign degree evaluations from NACES or AICE. Commitment to Diversity: demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds. Conditions of Employment Submit official college transcripts. Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years). Undergo fingerprinting via a Live Scan computer (clearance prior to first day). Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States. Pay Information See the current salary schedule here and note salary placement depends on receipt of official transcripts or foreign degree evaluations. Initial placement will be at first class/step until official transcripts are submitted.
