Job DescriptionThe Board Hardware Engineer functions as the project lead engineer that works with the board architect on future designs, the product manager for customer requested features, mechanical engineering on thermal solutions, physical layout engineers as well as the SI engineers to ensure the solution meets requested parameters, validation team to make sure the design meets the design parameters, and customer support when specific issues need to be addressed. The engineer also will create the schematic and functional specification and interface with the firmware team when bringing up a design. Key ResponsibilitiesInterprets product requirement information into electronic schematic informationWorks with component engineering in selecting and approving new componentsWrites functional specifications and unit test plansCan learn quickly company online document control systemManipulates Bill of MaterialsWorks with physical design to determine location of components and routing constraintsCan do pre and post simulation of the board designWorks on multiple assignments keeping marketing and management informed of progress and roadblocksIs fluent in the English language, able to interact verbally with peers, management, marketing and customers in person or on the phoneIs able to utilize and coordinate some project assignments with contracted design and test servicesSupports new and past designs through engineering change orders and problem debug Required SkillsBachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent5+ years of related experience with PCB design and developmentExperience performing high speed PCB designsExperience designing and laying out DC/DC regulator circuitsExperience performing board bring-up, using oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters and soldering toolsWorking knowledge of Cadence-Allegro System Capture and PCB Editor software toolsExperience with simulation tools such as:Cadence Sigrity PowerDC and OptimizePILTSPICE/PSPICEFamiliarity with common bus protocols such as DDR4, PCIe, UART, I2C, SPI and USBOffice tools: MS-Office(Excel, Word, Visio), Google (Sheets, Docs) Desired SkillsExperience using Python, C, TCL, VHDL, Verilog, GithubMicrocontroller programmingHigh current DC/DC design and layoutTest Equipment: TDR and VNAExperience using and following checklistsExperience performing board layout, PCB Stack up design, is a plus Compensation and BenefitsThe annual base salary range for this position is $91,000- $146,0 $This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.Broadcom offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package: Medical, dental and vision plans, 401(K) participation including company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company paid holidays, paid sick leave and vacation time.
