Five9 is a leading provider of cloud contact center software, bringing the power of cloud innovation to customers worldwide. Living our values everyday results in our team-first culture and enables us to innovate, grow, and thrive while enjoying the journey together. We celebrate diversity and foster an inclusive environment, empowering our employees to be their authentic selves. To support our continued growth and scale, we are seeking a high-impact, hands‑on Staff Salesforce Developer with the strategic mindset of a Solutions Architect to join our IT Applications Delivery organization based in San Ramon, CA. This senior IC role blends deep Salesforce engineering with architecture and product thinking. You’ll partner with business and delivery leaders to design end‑to‑end solutions, then hand off for execution to delivery partners and advanced delivery teams. You’ll set technical direction, elevate solution quality, and mentor developers while solving complex problems that drive impact for Five9. This role reports to the Director of Enterprise Applications and partners closely with business leaders, business analysts, engagement leads, and offshore development teams. Key Responsibilities Lead end‑to‑end solution design across Sales, Service, Experience, CPQ/Revenue Clouds and Certinia PS Cloud. Design and develop scalable solutions that enable revenue growth, operational efficiency, and an enhanced sales and service experience for internal teams. Translate ambiguous business outcomes into actionable solution roadmaps, epics, and technical designs and define non‑functional requirements (NFRs) and SLAs for scale, resiliency, and maintainability. Provide hands‑on technical leadership and develop mission‑critical components using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, and platform services where appropriate, establishing patterns for clean architecture and testability. Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, and delivery leaders to run discovery, architecture reviews, and solution walkthroughs, ensuring designs are implementation‑ready for offshore delivery. Drive integration strategy with other enterprise applications using REST/SOAP APIs, events, and iPaaS platforms such as Workato, defining canonical models, error handling, idempotency, and observability patterns. Strengthen DevSecOps practices by partnering with platform engineering to enhance CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Flosum, Gearset, Git), automated testing, static code analysis, and release governance across multi‑sandbox landscapes. Serve as a multiplier and mentor by providing technology guidance to junior developers and coaching senior engineers; lead architecture guilds, brown bags, and pattern reviews to uplift delivery velocity and quality. Key Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree a plus. Salesforce certifications: Salesforce Platform Developer II required; Architect certifications preferred (e.g., Application Architect, System Architect, Integration Architect). 8+ years of progressive Salesforce development and solution design experience, including significant leadership in architecture for complex, multi‑cloud implementations. Expert‑level proficiency with Apex, LWC, SOQL, platform events, asynchronous processing, and declarative automation (Flow Builder) with strong judgment on when to use code vs. configuration. Demonstrated leadership designing resilient, performant solutions with complex security/sharing and high‑throughput integrations and a proven history of simplifying complex systems. Deep understanding of Salesforce data model, governor limits, transaction control, caching strategies, and performance tuning at scale. Prior experience with CPQ or Revenue Cloud (RLM) is highly preferred. Optional: Integration background with REST/SOAP, middleware/iPaaS (e.g., Workato), and event‑driven patterns, plus familiarity with canonical data models and API lifecycle management. Track record of mentoring engineers, establishing standards and reusable assets, and elevating engineering culture. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills and comfort facilitating executive reviews as well as deep technical discussions. Must be based near San Ramon, CA, with the ability to work hybrid on‑site with business and delivery leaders. Why You’ll Love This Role You’ll be the architecture and technical thought leader for high‑impact initiatives that are strategic to Five9’s growth and scale. You’ll shape how we use Salesforce to solve complex business problems, creating solutions that are robust, extensible, and measurable. We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
