Job Summary and QualificationsUnder the indirect supervision of the Manager of Cardiovascular Services and according to unit and hospital policies and procedures, the registered nurse – pre admissions is responsible for coordinating pre-admission testing and education for patients. This includes conducting pre-operative phones calls, conducting education and preparing charts for the procedural areas
* Review surgical schedules and coordinate appropriate timing of preprocedural appointments
* Conduct preprocedural patient phone calls as necessary
* Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based on protocol.
* Able to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients per policy.
* Able to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
* Consults other departments as appropriate to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
Job Requirements
Experience
* 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
* 1 year of nursing experience in a cardiovascular setting – preferred
Education
* Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN)
Licenses and Certifications
* Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy
* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy
