Reporting to the Visitor Services Manager, this position is based at the Officers’ Club and serves as a primary point of contact, providing a positive and informative visitor experience for everyone, especially those who may experience barriers to access. The role handles a high volume of diverse questions and requests and supports both visitors and volunteers. This position will also assist at the Presidio Tunnel Tops, including the Field Station and Outpost. The primary audiences for these facilities include general park visitors, school groups, youth and families, community-based and partner organizations.Our ideal candidate has a passion for service and enjoys engaging with the public, is eager to learn about the Presidio’s rich history, and is excited to share that knowledge with visitors. The position starts at $24.16 per hour, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position is included in a bargaining unit, specifically the Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 792, United Public Employees of California. Applications received by November 21, 2025 will receive first consideration.ResponsibilitiesFacilities Management: Open and close the Officers’ Club Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Replenish materials and supplies to maintain a high-quality visitor experience. Support the upkeep of the public areas and coordinate with property managers on building maintenance and venue rental vendors on special events to ensure smooth operations and successful event execution.Customer Service and Engagement: Proactively and warmly welcome visitors, providing clear orientation to the Officers’ Club, exhibition galleries, and the broader Presidio. Provide exceptional, inclusive and customer service-oriented approach that is professional, friendly, helpful, and informative, enhancing visitor satisfaction and encouraging repeat visitation.Monitoring: Actively monitor exhibits for damage and/or issues and document findings. Enforce building rules and visitor etiquette to protect resources and maintain a respectful environment. Promptly elevate safety or facility issues, to designated staff and/or proper authorities.Collaboration: Work directly with park partners including the National Park Service to ensure alignment with the visitor experience, and consistent messaging across park sites.Events & Programs: Support a variety of visitor engagement activities including community events and programs by assisting with logistics and on-the-ground visitor support. Coordinate and schedule school group and field trip visits and other community activities to ensure smooth and engaging experiences.Volunteers: Assist with the orientation, coordination and support of volunteers. Help to foster a positive volunteer experience that enhances overall visitor services.Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsMinimum of (2) two years of customer service and/or program experience or interacting with the public including youth, preferably in a park or cultural institution, or other public facing organization.Able to communicate effectively and have positive interactions with colleagues and people from various backgrounds and cultures.Clearly communicate and present information both verbally and in written form. Comfortable speaking in front of large and small groups of visitors.Must be creative, energetic, curious, self‑motivated, and passionate about sharing a love of history, nature, and parks. Skilled at taking initiative and recognizing what needs to be done. Ability to be flexible and multi‑task effectively.Able to work independently with sound judgement and decision‑making skills.Demonstrated ability to manage and diffuse difficult situations including service recovery. Must be an active listener.Strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to take direction and feedback in a constructive manner.Willing to work a flexible work schedule including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings for special programs and events. The schedule for this position is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 9am – 5:30pm.Must be comfortable working indoors and occasionally outdoors in all types of weather.Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. short distances; stretch, grasp, kneel, twist, reach and bend.Reliable, personable and can meet and communicate effectively with a diverse clientele.Desired QualificationsBilingual in Spanish, Cantonese or other non‑English languages desirableCourses in parks and recreation management, history, communications, education, tourism, or other related disciplineCPR and First Aid CertificationA passion for the mission and values of the Presidio Trust.This position is subject to an employment background check which shall consist of a review of applicable county, state and Federal criminal and civil records, state bankruptcy indexes, driver’s license, education, and employment history. An individual’s granting of a background check and resulting report is voluntary. However, employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an employment background check.
