MAT Program The Match Associate Teacher (MAT) Program is a one‑year cycle designed to launch teaching careers, particularly for those sharing key identity intersections with our students. A second year extension is available for MATs who demonstrate strong growth potential. Compensation Associate Teacher Year 1: Base $52,500 + $3,150 development stipend Associate Teacher Year 2: $55,650 Lead Teacher Year 1: Base $67,403 (includes $2,500 retention bonus) Lead Teacher Year 2: $72,554 (includes $2,500 retention bonus) Lead Teacher Year 3: $74,174 Lead Teacher Year 4: $79,325 Lead Teacher Year 5: $83,446 Lead Teacher Year 6: $86,537 Lead Teacher Year 7: $92,718 Lead Teacher Year 8: $97,869 Lead Teacher Year 9: $105,080 Lead Teacher Year 10: $113,322 * Pay scale is based on current year (25‑26). Licensure & Certification Guidance on completing Massachusetts certification requirements. Embedded coursework for Moderate Disabilities Licensure. SEI endorsement requirement through a Match‑organized SEI course taught by a DESE‑approved provider. MAT Experience MATs are placed on grade‑level (K‑5) or subject‑level (6‑12) teams, or Special Education teams for an intensive year‑long apprenticeship. They receive hands‑on training, coaching, and progressively increase classroom responsibilities while working toward provisional licensure. How It Works Program runs August 1 – July 31 at Match Charter Public School. Approximately 12 aspiring teachers form a cohort and are assigned to one of our three campuses. MATs work full days in classrooms, observe, assist, and gradually assume teaching duties. They attend wrap‑around professional development tailored to their cohort. Mentor teachers and school leaders provide frequent, personalized feedback. Successful MATs who gain provisional licensure are highly prioritized for open positions the following school year. MATs may teach Summer Academy to continue skill building toward lead teacher roles. Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities evolve through the year and include, but are not limited to: Serve as a teaching assistant. Observe and provide in‑class support to a host teacher. Actively receive and implement coaching from Match staff. Take on teaching responsibilities with gradual increase. Support host teachers with grading, materials, family communication, etc. Assist with school‑wide duties (breakfast, lunch, dismissal). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. Application Process Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Pre‑interview screens and final interviews occur in cycles. Key dates for priority rounds: Priority Round One: October 27 – November 21 (application review & phone screen, initial interview with Director of New Teacher Development) followed by December 1 – January 9 campus interviews and decision messaging the week of January 12. Priority Round Two: January 12 – February 6 (application review & phone screen, initial interview) followed by February 9–13 and February 23 – March 13 campus interviews and decision messaging the week of March 16. Priority Round Three: March 23 – April 17 (application review & phone screen, initial interview) followed by April 27 – May 22 campus interviews and decision messaging the week of May 25. * Hiring continues on a rolling basis after round three if cohort spots need to be filled.
