Atrium Health Charlotte is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a nursing job in Charlotte, North Carolina, to provide care to patients in the Direct Observation Unit.
The Direct Observation Unit is a 22-bed, med-surg unit specializing in observation status patients with cardiac telemetry. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 6:1, with a broad array of patient diagnoses, including chest pain, TIA/CVA rule out, and behavioral health holds. The team is supported by 2 HCT's and a charge nurse, and is known for its supportive and collaborative environment.
Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center is the flagship hospital of Atrium Health, a leading provider of healthcare in the Southeastern United States. The hospital serves as a Level 1 trauma center and is an approved transplant center for heart, kidney, pancreas, and liver. It is also one of North Carolina's 5 Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals, providing residency training for more than 200 physicians in 15 specialties.
The RN Clinical Nurse I provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies, procedures, and/or protocols. The nurse collects data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation, analyzes the assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues, and develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes.
The nurse implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. The nurse delegates elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with any applicable legal or policy parameters or principles, evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes, and practices in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
The nurse communicates effectively in all areas of practice, collaborates with healthcare consumers and other key stakeholders in the conduct of nursing practice, and leads within the professional practice setting and the profession. The nurse integrates evidence and research findings into practice, contributes to quality nursing practice, and evaluates one's own and others nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
The nurse utilizes appropriate resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and fiscally responsible, practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner, and practices ethically. The nurse promotes shared governance, or facility decision making activities, developing and nurturing research to positively affect clinical outcomes and promotion.
**Physical Requirements:** The nurse must be able to walk, stand, sit, lift, reach, stoop, bend, push, and pull. The nurse must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. The nurse must speak English in good, understandable terms, and have an intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch.
**Education, Experience, and Certifications:** The nurse must graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, with a BSN preferred. The nurse must have a current Basic Life Support certification, and a current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which they work and reside.
