School of Public Affairs - Distinguished Lecturer 2025-2026 Apply Now Job no: 547062Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/LecturerLocation: San DiegoCategories: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Temporary, Full Time, Faculty - Public Affairs The School of Public Affairs (SPA) at San Diego State University is seeking a candidate for a full-time, two-year (academic year) Distinguished Lecturer position to begin Fall 2025. This position is temporary and subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the California State University system and the California Faculty Association. This position will require 15 units of teaching workload at the undergraduate and graduate level and may include classes focusing on urban resilience, urban analytics, geographic information systems (GIS), and smart city planning, and public space regulation. Preference will be given to those candidates with research and teaching experience on contemporary (for example, health, food or cannabis) systems and urban planning. Work may involve contributions to the accreditation process for the School’s City Planning program. Preference will be given to those with experience in leading program assessment and academic accreditation efforts in city planning or architecture. Applicants are required to have: Ph.D in City Planning or a related field Ten or more years of academic or professional experience in the field of city planning or architecture Demonstrated teaching excellence Demonstrated potential for research excellence Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population Preferred qualifications include: Lead experience in academic accreditation Evidence of ability to integrate technology into learning activities Experience teaching in a graduate program for working professionals Demonstrated mentor and advisor experience The Lecturer (Academic Year) classification salary is $5,405 to $11,994/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $6,417 to $6,750/per month. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
