Lab ClerkHealthCare Support is actively seeking a Lab Clerk to fill an opening with a large healthcare organization in Lake Success, NY.Daily Responsibilities for Lab Clerk: Accessions or verifies previously accessioned orders in the Orders Management System. •Makes corrections to orders as needed before receiving them into the Lab System. •Receives orders electronically into the Lab System. •Places barcode labels appropriately onto specimens received. •Centrifuges specimens appropriately. •Prepares and labels aliquots of specimens as needed for freezing or split sampling. •Distributes prepared specimens to various laboratory departments. •Prepares send out manifests for reference lab work and packs specimens according to the manifest. •Calls the reference lab as needed to verify specimen requirements and to arrange special handling of specimens. •Alerts the supervisor to improperly collected specimens or mislabeled specimens. •Expedites add on testing by locating a previously collected specimen and building an order. •Performs phlebotomy on a limited emergent basis if properly trained to do so. •Maintains a chain of custody for irreplaceable specimens according to Optum policies. •Maintains patient confidentiality. •Rectifies reference lab pending logs and posts results that are held in the fix queue. •Performs related work as required.Start & end times of shift:5pm-1am: Monday- Friday possible SaturdayRequired Qualifications for Lab Clerk:Looking for someone with previous lab/ specimen collecting experienceBenefits for Lab Clerk: Immediate enrollment in Health Insurance Dental Insurance Life Insurance Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Access to Investment Accounts Career and educational tools within our Ingenovis ACT (Advocacy) ProgramPay Details: $15.00 per hour - $23.00 per hour (FTE rate: $24.00 per hour + benefits)Interested in being considered?If you are interested in applying to this position, please click Apply Now for immediate consideration.
