Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling. 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols. 5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages. 1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with threat modeling, vulnerability research, security reviews, and secure software development practices. Experience in vulnerability discovery and analysis, design auditing, and code-level security auditing, including bug bounty. Experience producing or influencing software architectures to meet security guarantees. Knowledge of security engineering, computer and network security, authentication and security protocols and applied cryptography. About the Job Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities. The Application, Infrastructure, and Services Security team secures user experiences for over one billion users. We ensure the clients and backends are secure for Android OEMs, as well as popular Google products such as Pixel, Fitbit, and Google Fi. In this role, you will be a trusted partner with one of our product teams, helping to secure their existing products and ensuring new products are developed with security in mind. You will work directly with software engineers, hardware engineers, product managers, and UX researchers to identify and resolve security issues. This will involve static and dynamic code analysis, application engagement testing, and design review. Your security reviews will uncover bugs, and we encourage exploit development to demonstrate the impact of a vulnerability. We also go a step further and develop individual or systemic fixes to common vulnerability patterns. You will also partner with other security teams, including privacy engineers, software engineers, and researchers, to ensure our products are getting the best security the industry has to offer. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Review security aspects of, and improve software architectures and designs to be secure by default. Analyze applications and services to discover vulnerabilities and create proof of concept exploits. Partner with engineering teams to define the right security expectations for their products and users. Assess published or externally reported vulnerabilities to determine their impact on our products, and recommend fixes for our systems.
