The Software Configuration Manager is responsible for overseeing the configuration, integration, and maintenance of application and embedded software products throughout their lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software configuration management (SCM) practices, tools, and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement software configuration management strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Manage and maintain version control systems, including branching, merging, and labeling.
- Oversee the build and release processes, ensuring that software builds are reliable and reproducible.
- Coordinate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth software deployment and integration.
- Monitor and audit software configurations to ensure compliance with company standards and policies.
- Maintain and improve automated build and deployment pipelines.
- Track and report on configuration management metrics and KPIs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve configuration-related issues.
- Provide training and support to team members on SCM tools and best practices.
- Ensure proper documentation of configuration management activities and software artifacts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Software Configuration Manager or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Rhodecode, Git, Subversion, Perforce).
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo, Azure DevOps).
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Configuration Management (e.g., CMII, ITIL).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
