Mechanical Superintendent
The Mechanical Superintendent manages and oversees the daytoday mechanical operations at the construction site of Solar, BESS, and Microgrid projects. The Mechanical Superintendents primary purpose is to ensure that all construction projects are being built to VEPs specifications and project requirements. The Mechanical Superintendent will coordinate with all subcontractors, labor, and site logistics to ensure that construction will be on schedule.
The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for prompt and accurate communication with the Project Managers and Engineers about the status of a project. All employees are responsible for ensuring VEPs quality and safety standards are upheld throughout all stages of the project.
Responsibilities:
Plan and direct the mechanical work activities on job sites.
Work with Project Superintendent, Electrical Superintendent, and Project Manager in development of project schedules and updates, and look-ahead activities.
Direct subcontractors and other personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
Coordination of mechanical subcontractor(s), material, and equipment needed to meet schedules. Ensure work teams have needed resources and support.
Work with VEP QA team to ensure quality control of work performed, including self-performed and subcontracted work.
Support project management with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for mechanical activities.
Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and
recommend/implement
appropriate course of action.
Adhere to and support the companys Health, Safety & Environmental Policies.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines to ensure compliance.
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Assure all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance with design documents.
Maintain daily paperwork including field reports, schedule updates, and email correspondence.
Ensure project documentation is maintained in Procore daily.
Ability to interact with Owner, Owner Representatives, and outside testing agencies and be able to work and communicate well with them. Proven ability promoting outstanding customer service and client relations.
Requirements
4+ years solar project supervisory experience including projects of at least 20 MW up to 100+ MW is highly desired
5+ years previous experience in project supervision and/or construction operations
NABCEP PV Installation professional certification a plus
Solid understanding of Project Management process
Ability to problem solve both personnel issues and project issues
Good record keeping and organizational skills
Ability to travel nationally depending on project location
