Executive Underwriter F&I – Overland Park, Kansas (Hybrid – 3 in‑office days per week, Mon‑Wed)Location: Overland Park, KS – HybridSchedule: Full timeSalary Range: $75,000 – $165,000 (Level II); $98,300 – $161,000 (Level III)PurposeAnalyze and underwrite new and existing Finance & Insurance (F&I) business to support portfolio growth and profitability while delivering excellent service to customers and the sales organization.Key AccountabilitiesMake underwriting decisions within authority to ensure profitability and customer retention.Analyze and underwrite F&I business at the account level, working independently.Qualify accounts to meet underwriting appetite.Calculate target pricing using underwriting tools and models.Understand and analyze risk.Negotiate pricing and terms with sales to close deals.Service accounts, handle declinations/cancellations.Review Dealer Product Questionnaire with sales for accurate setup and growth opportunities.Maintain key applications with rating & pricing variables.Ensure accurate onboarding with internal teams.Maintain documentation for all underwriting activities.Act as a key contact for assigned territory, supporting the sales culture.Provide technical advice to solve customer problems.Anticipate customer needs and recommend changes.Manage a portfolio of accounts, supporting retention.Apply rating tools to deliver suggestions for improvements.Prepare and review contracts.Calculate settlement offers.Travel for business as required.Work extended hours during peak periods.Maintain predictable attendance, including in‑office days.Business AccountabilitiesDevelop and maintain relationships with sales, collaborating on proposals and business needs.Query data and report to support internal & customer requests.Analyze underwriting profitability and identify trends.Lead periodic account reviews for assigned territory.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.Attend virtual and in‑person sales meetings with prepared purpose.Additional Functions (As needed)Assess complex cases and recommend solutions.Build relationships and provide advice to create value.Research primary data, analyze trends, and recommend operational decisions.Analyze risk data and market trends for growth.Recommend process improvements.Monitor and review work across projects for resource use and schedules.Provide advisory services and measure exposure.Performance Management AccountabilitiesManage personal development.Model corporate values.Educate teammates and partners.Provide guidance and support to team members.Basic QualificationsUnderwriting SpecialistHigh School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area or 6+ years in claims or underwriting support or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 1+ year underwriting or Apprentice with 4+ years claims support.Knowledge of lines of business, legal & regulatory guidelines.Knowledge of quote time restraints.Experience with Microsoft Office.Executive UnderwriterHigh School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years underwriting or market‑facing or 10+ years claims or underwriting support or Apprentice with Associate Degree and 3+ years underwriting or Apprentice with 8+ years claims support.Knowledge of Microsoft Office.Experience on time restraints for quotes.Experience working in a team environment.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree.Professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARe).Strong analytical and decision‑making skills.Sales execution mindset.Creative problem‑solving.Technological sophistication.Data querying and analysis experience.Excellent communication and relationship skills.Independent work and multi‑priority management.Proficiency with underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.Technical knowledge of Finance & Insurance products and marketing model.Compensation: Salary range for Level II: $74,300 – $121,700 with 10% short‑term bonus eligibility.Level III: $98,300 – $161,000 with 15% short‑term bonus eligibility.Zurich offers a fair & reasonable compensation range and additional rewards, including short‑term incentives and merit increases.EEO Statement: Zurich is an equal‑opportunity employer.
