CASAC Counselor

A non-profit organization based in New York City, specifically focusing on Lower Manhattan. It has a long history dating back over 130 years, during which it has been dedicated to serving the diverse communities of the area. This organization offers a wide range of programs and services aimed at enhancing the well-being and socioeconomic opportunities of individuals and families in the region.
We are seeking six (6) experienced CASAC counselor for their recovery and wellness center to work on the following shifts;
*Shifts:* 8am-4pm, 3pm to 11pm and 12pm to 8am
*Job Purpose:*
As a Behavioral Counselor, you'll work closely with the Residential Manager in our therapy-focused community. Your job is to support residents in our treatment facility, helping them with behavior and collaborating with our clinical team. You'll create a safe place for residents to deal with substance issues and learn life skills.
*Responsibilities:*
*Direct Services:*
* Help residents individually and in groups.
* Arrange medical appointments.
* Make sure residents take part in our programs.
* Handle crises and write down what happens.
* Lead meetings that help our community.
*Counseling:*
* Run group counseling sessions.
* Work with other counselors.
* Use positive ways to help residents.
*Treatment:*
* Be a go-to person in treatment planning.
* Write down what happens during sessions.
* Tell the team how things are going.
*Administrative:*
* Help residents with daily tasks.
* Keep records and do paperwork.
* Plan fun activities.
* Talk to other staff and keep records.
* Do other jobs as needed.
*Requirements:*
* Need at least a High School diploma; CASAC certification is good.
* Should have worked in similar places for at least 1-2 years; a Master's degree can count instead of CASAC.
* Knowing about counseling and behavior change is helpful.
* Must be able to work weekends.
* A degree in social work or psychology is a bonus.
* Being trained in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
* Good at talking to people and using computers.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $23.00 - $32.00 per hour
