Job Title: Revenue Cycle Director Reports To: Chief Financial Officer Job Summary The Director of Revenue Cycle provides enterprise leadership and strategic direction for all revenue cycle functions across Bath Community Hospital. This role oversees patient financial services, patient access, reimbursement integrity, and Health Information Management (HIM), and partners across clinical departments and service lines to ensure accurate patient intake, efficient billing and collections processes, regulatory compliance, and revenue optimization. The Director provides leadership to achieve organizational financial and service goals, including billing and collections of patient accounts, payer compliance, cash posting, employee productivity, and performance against key revenue indicators such as AR days, cash collections, bad debt, denials, underpayment recovery, and coding accuracy. This role also leads payer contracting and reimbursement strategy, assists the CFO with enterprise budget development and financial analysis, directs system initiatives and analytical dashboards, and drives enterprise-wide process improvement through root‑cause analysis and revenue cycle optimization. The Director is responsible for employee engagement and Press Ganey improvement related to revenue cycle operations. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic and operational leadership for the enterprise revenue cycle Oversee Business Office Director and collaborate with clinical departments to optimize end-to-end revenue cycle performance Lead payer contracting and reimbursement strategy Partner with the CFO on enterprise budgeting, month‑end close, and revenue performance analysis Lead system and technology initiatives, including revenue cycle enhancements and analytical dashboard development Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement improvements to reduce denials and maximize reimbursement Monitor payer regulations and ensure organizational compliance Lead employee engagement initiatives and support Press Ganey performance for revenue cycle functions Maintain knowledge of current regulations and policies of federal, state, and commercial payers Select and monitor external collection partners and revenue cycle vendors Ensure ongoing staff training and development Participate in required educational activities and organizational meetings Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO Core Competencies Leadership and staff development Financial analysis and budgeting Revenue cycle strategy and execution Regulatory and payer compliance Collaboration and communication Process improvement and change leadershipCustomer service and patient experience focus Professional Requirements Meets dress code standards; maintains professional appearance Completes annual educational requirements Uses identification badge and timekeeping system properly Maintains confidentiality of patient and organizational information Attends meetings and participates in organizational initiatives Communicates mission, ethics, and goals of Bath Community Hospital Regulatory Requirements High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred Knowledge and training in HIPAA Healthcare revenue cycle leadership experience required Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement, billing, and compliance Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data analysis, and reporting tools Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and lead cross‑functional teams Physical Demands & Work Environment This role requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; perform frequent hand and finger movements for typing, data entry, and computer use; and occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds. The position requires fine motor coordination, clear verbal communication, and the ability to hear and see clearly, including close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work is primarily performed in an office and hospital environment with exposure to typical healthcare conditions, including variable noise levels, temperature fluctuations, hospital chemicals, airborne particles, and infectious agents. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required as needed. The role requires the ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
