Job Title: Energy Engineer

Location: Brooklyn NY, 11206

Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Energy Engineer with expertise in building energy systems, including plumbing, mechanical insulation, steam, lighting, and compliance with local energy laws. The Energy Engineer will play a crucial role in driving energy efficiency initiatives, ensuring compliance with Local Law 97 and Local Law 88, and providing actionable insights to optimize energy performance. This role involves preparing comprehensive reports, training field staff on implementation requirements, and conducting weekly site visits to ensure compliance and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Energy Analysis and Compliance Reporting:
• Analyze energy systems and components, focusing on areas such as HVAC, plumbing, steam systems, lighting, and mechanical insulation to identify energy savings opportunities.
• Prepare and submit detailed compliance reports in line with Local Law 97 requirements and other regulatory standards.
• Conduct energy audits, assessments, and site inspections to ensure that all systems meet established energy efficiency and insulation standards.
• On-Site Monitoring and Sign-Off:
• Travel to building sites once a case by case to inspect completed work, including plumbing and mechanical insulation installations, ensuring it meets compliance with Local Law 88 and other regulatory standards.
• Provide final sign-off on-site work, verifying quality and adherence to engineering guidelines and energy regulations.
• Training and Development of Field Staff:
• Train and guide field staff on energy compliance requirements, best practices, and technical standards related to building systems, plumbing, steam, lighting, and insulation.
• Provide technical support and expertise to ensure correct implementation of energy-saving and insulation measures on-site.
• Project Management and Coordination:
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate and oversee energy efficiency projects.
• Balance multiple projects and deadlines, effectively managing time and resources to ensure high-quality deliverables under pressure.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in energy engineering or a related field, with a focus on building systems, plumbing, mechanical insulation, energy audits, and regulatory compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of Local Law 97 and Local Law 88 compliance requirements, including HVAC, plumbing, mechanical insulation, steam, lighting, and overall building energy management.

Skills:

• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical insulation, lighting, and building energy systems.
• Proven ability to prepare and interpret technical reports, audits, and compliance documents.
• Strong multitasking abilities, with the capacity to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills for training and coordinating with on-site staff.
