Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No Offer Description Clinical Teaching Fellow - Communications & Technology Law Clinic Georgetown University: Law Center Location: Georgetown Law Clinics Open Date: Nov 13, 2025 Deadline: (not provided) The Communications & Technology Law Clinic at Georgetown Law invites applications for a two-year paid Clinical Teaching Fellow starting in July or August 2026. The person hired for this position will work closely with Professor Laura Moy to supervise second- and third-year JD students working at the intersection of justice and technology law/policy. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting December 5 and we encourage candidates to apply early for priority consideration, as we intend to begin interviews over winter break. Fellow Responsibilities and Training The Communications & Technology Law Clinic has two full-time Teaching Fellows. The Fellows exercise a great deal of responsibility for the clinic's cases, advocating on behalf of nonprofit organizations and individuals seeking to advance justice through client counseling and advocacy involving technology law. The Fellows assist Professor Moy in all aspects of the clinic’s work with clients and coalitions to develop strategy, meet with policymakers and their staff, and draft a variety of documents. Because we are located in the heart of Washington, D.C., a short distance from the Capitol building, the Fellows get to experience firsthand the interplay between Congress, agencies, courts, and public interest advocates in developing technology policy. They also have many opportunities to network with others working in this area. In partnership with the clinic's other Fellow, who will be in their second year when the incoming Fellow starts, the Fellows are the primary supervisors for the clinic's students each semester and assist students in developing their lawyering skills. For example, the Fellows check in with students weekly, answer students' research questions, review students' drafts, and prepare students for meetings and oral presentations. The Fellows also assist with planning and teaching the clinic seminar, which meets twice weekly. Fellows in this position receive excellent training in clinical teaching. For more than 50 years, Georgetown Law has operated the nation's largest and most highly regarded in-house clinical program. Incoming Fellows are welcomed as part of a cohort of Fellows across our 18 law school clinics, who together participate in an orientation in August and a Clinical Pedagogy course that meets throughout the first year of the Fellowship. Upon completion of the Fellowship, the Fellow will receive an LL.M. degree. Stipend & Benefits Fellowships in all of the clinics at Georgetown Law pay $70,000 for the first year and $75,000 for the second year. This salary is not negotiable. Upon successful completion of the Fellowship, the Fellow will be awarded an LL.M. degree in Advocacy. Georgetown Law provides group health insurance, including dental and vision. More information can be found at https://benefits.georgetown.edu/post-doctoral-fellows/. Fellows also benefit from affiliations with the clinical program, Georgetown Law's Institute for Technology Law & Policy, Georgetown's Tech & Society initiative, and the broader Georgetown Law and Georgetown University communities. Georgetown is a vibrant institution with a deep commitment to public service and social justice. We boast the largest tech law faculty in the country and are widely recognized for our exceptional clinical program, with 18 law school clinics—all of which employ Fellows who convene regularly for educational, professional, and social events. The Fellow will have their own office within a recently renovated space that was custom-designed to house the school's two tech clinics in a building shared with several other technology faculty and programs from across the university. The Fellow will also have access to a state-of-the-art fitness center on the law school campus. Career Outcomes The Fellowship provides an excellent entry into technology law, public interest practice, and academia. Because the program is widely respected, alumni of this Fellowship typically have considerable success obtaining full‑time teaching or advocacy positions. Alumni have gone to the Federal Communications Commission, Federal Trade Commission, Electronic Privacy Information Center, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Free Press, Knight First Amendment Institute, National Hispanic Media Coalition, New America's Open Technology Institute, Public Knowledge, and law firms, as well as to faculty and staff positions at multiple other law schools around the country. Qualifications Demonstrated interest in justice; Demonstrated interest in technology, communications, privacy, or surveillance (no technical expertise necessary); Practical experience in a law school clinic, a public interest organization, government, a law firm, or a judicial clerkship; Strong analytical and communication skills, both oral and written; Experience or interest in management and supervision; Experience or interest in teaching law students in a clinical setting; and A commitment to pursuing a career in clinical teaching or the public interest. Application Instructions Please upload all of the required documents via this Interfolio portal (including resume, law school transcript, essay, and at least one writing sample).
