As a Principal Engineer – Workstations, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining workstation systems and infrastructure. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including product managers, software developers, and IT professionals, to ensure our workstation solutions meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and usability. Leads multiple, highly complex projects on the deployment or upgrade of RGA technology utilizing internal and external resources across multiple disciplines. Functions as lead and mentor for technical team members on technology strategies and configuration. Requires depth or breadth of expertise in own specialized discipline or field. Responsibilities Architectural Design – Lead design and development of complex Windows workstation systems and infrastructure. Technical Leadership & Mentorship – Provide guidance, leadership, and mentorship to junior and mid‑level engineers. Problem‑solving – Solve challenging technical problems and optimize complex Windows workstation systems. Project Oversight – Manage all phases of technical projects related to Windows workstations. System & Security Management – Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Windows OS, ensuring high security and compliance. Collaboration – Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders. Documentation – Document architectural decisions, design patterns, and best practices for Windows workstation environments. Strategy & Vision – Drive technical excellence and contribute to long‑term vision and strategy. Continuous Improvement – Monitor technological advancements to ensure solutions are improved and aligned with industry standards and emerging requirements. System Analysis – Understand interactions between systems, applications, and services, evaluate impact of changes, analyze systems and perform usability testing to ensure performance, reliability, scalability, and security. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent experience. Preferred: Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS). Experience Required: 10+ years in IT architecture, production support, or related systems experience. Preferred: 12‑15 years of relevant IT experience; advanced experience with workload virtualization, application containerization, enterprise network management, information security concepts, and application performance monitoring. Skills and Abilities Technical Expertise – Deep knowledge of Windows operating systems, scripting languages (PowerShell, Python), virtualization technologies (VMware), networking protocols, and security practices. Architectural Design – Ability to design resilient, scalable, maintainable Windows workstation architectures. Leadership & Mentorship – Strong leadership qualities, ability to inspire, motivate, guide, and mentor. Communication – Excellent verbal and written communication. Problem‑solving – Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Project Management – Ability to manage projects, set deadlines, allocate resources, and adhere to budgets and timelines. Adaptability & Continuous Learning – Readiness to adapt, embrace change, continuous learning. Virtualization: VMware, Horizon VDI. Cloud Solutions: M365. Programming and Scripting: Python, PowerShell. Tools: Git, Jenkins. Monitoring: Datadog, ControlUp. VPN: Global Protect. 2‑factor: Okta. Security hardening controls for workstations. Deployment and patching technologies: Tanium, SCCM, JAMF. Enrollment technologies: Entra, Intune, Workspace ONE UEM. Compensation Range $123,500.00 - $184,050.00 Annual. Base pay varies. RGA provides an annual bonus plan and long‑term equity incentive plan.
