CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST II — Correctional Health Services Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization. Premium Pay Bilingual pay: Qualified employees receive an additional $0.70 per hour. Night Shift Differential: Additional pay for hours worked on assigned night shift (rate as per shift schedule). Jail Supplement: Additional $1.50 per hour for staff permanently assigned to the Central Jail/Intake/Release Center, Theo Lacy Branch Jail or James Musick Facility. Board Certification: Full‑time employees who are Board Certified receive an additional $350 per month. Other additional premium pays are available. Overview The County of Orange, Health Care Agency, seeks a licensed Clinical Psychologist to provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and participate in psychotherapeutic programs for severely and persistently mentally ill clients within the Orange County Jail system. Responsibilities Assess clients for current level of functioning and psychiatric history. Provide individual and group psychotherapeutic interventions for a wide range of psychological and substance‑use disorders. Select, administer, score, and interpret a variety of objective and projective tests. Conduct psychological research and analyze statistical data in relation to Adult CHS program outcomes. Participate in the mental health quality‑management team to evaluate and streamline program processes. Provide training seminars, presentations, and didactic learning for staff. Assist in complex case analysis and guide staff on evidence‑based practices. Supervise Clinical Psychologist I, Doctorate Practicum Students, and Interns. Desirable Qualifications and Core Competencies Technical Expertise and Knowledge of: Title 15 Minimum Standards, ICE, Board of State and Community Corrections, and other relevant regulations. Jail security policies and HIPAA guidelines. Psychological testing and assessments for diagnosis, treatment, and prognoses. Data gathering, evaluation, and interpretation. Discharge planning and case management for mentally ill and substance‑using clients. Evidence‑based mental‑health and substance‑use practices. Current trends and protocols in psychological treatment and assessment. Knowledge of LPS Act laws and consortiums. Use of Electronic Health Records, Microsoft Office, and related software. Analysis and Critical Thinking: Work independently, maintaining confidentiality. Analyze factors contributing to health problems or recidivism. Make effective decisions regarding client care. Respond efficiently to mental‑health emergencies. Manage clinical boundaries and assess presenting symptoms accurately. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate orally and in writing with clients, staff, and community agencies. Use effective interviewing techniques. Engage clients in discharge planning. Collaborate with law enforcement, court personnel, and other county agencies. Flexibility and Safety: Maintain a positive attitude and manage stress. Be flexible and reliable for 24/7 duties. Stay alert to personal safety and environmental hazards. Provide compassionate care to clients with criminal charges. Special Qualifications / Requirements Pass a comprehensive background investigation. No felony convictions or probation. Ability to work weekends, evenings, night shifts, and holidays. Maintain background clearance as required by the Orange County Sheriff‑Coroner. Minimum Qualifications Doctoral degree in clinical psychology, at least two (2) years of post‑licensure clinical experience. Environmental Conditions Work in a locked facility with adult inmates. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, behavioral health issues, and profanity. 24/7 coverage required; environment may be noisy and chaotic.
