Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Power Market Fundamental Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of power markets, including supply and demand dynamics, market rules, and regulatory impacts. This role involves analyzing market data, forecasting prices, and providing insights to support trading strategies and risk management decisions.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze power market fundamentals, including supply and demand factors, fuel prices, weather patterns, and regulatory changes
  • Data Collection: Gather and manage large datasets from various sources, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
  • Forecasting: Develop and maintain models to forecast electricity prices, load, and generation patterns. Update models regularly based on market developments
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed market analysis reports, including price forecasts, risk assessments, and market trends, to internal stakeholders
  • Trading Support: Provide actionable insights and recommendations to the trading team based on fundamental market analysis
  • Scenario Analysis: Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate the potential impact of market changes and regulatory developments on power prices and trading positions
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other analysts, traders, risk managers, and IT specialists to enhance data integration, model accuracy, and analytical capabilities

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience: 7-10 years of experience in power market analysis, energy trading, or a related field
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or similar. Experience with market modeling software is a plus
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify market trends
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
