Application Security Architect

Application Security Architect (ETL) - Onsite in Charlotte, NC Optomi, in partnership with a Fortune 50 client, is looking to add an onsite resource with strong project management skills to test and implement security controls into the SDLC. The Application Security Architect will coordinate with application owners and business units to design, demonstrate, educate, and support security controls, including deployment and enforcement timelines, written documentation of compliance and remediation steps, and escalation of issues impacting control compliance. This role starts off as a full‑time, long‑term contract on W2 (benefits like medical, dental, and 401K are offered through Optomi during the contract duration). Base pay range $160,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr Responsibilities: Security Control Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain security controls that directly support and enforce security policies and procedures to protect systems and data. Security Control Requirements and Planning: Coordinate with application owners and business units to design, demonstrate, educate, and support security controls, including deployment and enforcement timelines, written documentation of compliance and remediation steps, and escalation of issues impacting control compliance. Control Testing and Technical Support: Validate that security controls are working as designed, provide technical support and troubleshooting for security‑related issues, work closely with IT and business units to integrate security measures, and support various cyber‑related projects. Create and execute automated test plans/strategies utilizing business requirements and collaborate with engineers/architects, clients, etc. to validate test environments, test data and test results, design and implement code fixes, validate outcomes against expected results and produce associated reporting. In addition to Unit Test, responsibilities may include dynamic application security testing, interface testing, integration testing, end‑to‑end testing and/or user acceptance testing. Supports applications and solves configuration and environment issues. Supports the software deployment process. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired in Computer Science or Cybersecurity. Requires 5+ years of related experience. Cybersecurity certifications are preferred. Experience in SDLC, including Kanban, Agile, and Waterfall. Strong project management skills and experience. 5+ years of robust project management overseeing a technical development pipeline.
