Real Estate Associate (Property Management & Transactions) – American Electric Power Job Posting End Date: 01‑20‑2026 Job Summary Assist with leasing, maintenance, inspection and utilization of company‑owned property to maximize return; support acquisition of required real estate and disposal of unnecessary assets. What You'll Do Negotiate and handle details in connection with leases, both surface and mineral, on company‑owned real estate. Review and analyze real estate documents, including oil and gas leases, to determine key provisions, obligations and ownership for maximum return. Conduct inventories and inspections of properties to assess condition of buildings and lands and arrange for maintenance. Negotiate sales of company‑owned real estate and assist in preparation of contracts and other legal documents. Negotiate with property owners for desired property acquisitions. Prepare deeds, affidavits and other legal documents to facilitate title clearing and acquisition. Consult with attorneys, title examiners and AEP Legal department on legal/technical real estate matters. Handle lease details for approved leases. Negotiate easements from company to others on various rights. Settle damages to non‑owned properties caused by company construction and operations. Negotiate with government authorities for closing, relocation, or vacation of public roads; re‑zoning; and removal of facilities. Maintain relationships with federal, state, municipal and local government agencies and the public. Consult with Real Estate Asset Management team on issues and attend project meetings as required. What We're Looking For Valid driver’s license. Travel required. Flexible work hours. Ability to understand real estate documents. Basic computer skills. Qualifications Salary Grade 5: Associate’s degree in real estate, business, engineering, paralegal or related field; or paralegal certification, appraiser/assessor certification, real estate broker; or high school diploma/GED with two years of experience. Minimum two years experience in real estate activities. Salary Grade 6: Same educational background; requires four years experience in acquisition of property or related activities. Compensation Salary Grade 5: $67,000 – $77,000 annually. Salary Grade 6: $77,727 – $87,727 annually. OT payment grade: SP20‑006; Compensation range: $63,496 – $93,188.50. Physical Demands Sedentary work; may involve moving up to 10 lbs occasionally; walking or standing briefly.
