Description

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Chief of Security, the Security Officer protects the assets of the Tribe by patrolling the Rancheria and investigating incidents that concern the security and welfare of the Rancheria, tribal offices and tribal land

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Makes vehicle patrols of tribal lands. Observes and reports any suspicious activities. Enforces tribal code violations and observes and reports hazardous conditions and/or individuals who may be involved in criminal activity.
2. Prepares activity logs, incident crime reports and other reports, as required, in a complete factual and legible manner.
3. Testifies in court or other hearings as a witness for the Tribal government in criminal matters.
4. Attends department squad meetings and training courses as scheduled.
5. Maintains a professional working relationship with the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department and other local, state and federal agencies.
6. Maintains confidentiality as prescribed by local, state, federal and tribal policies, procedures, laws or statutes.
7. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

1. Must be at least age twenty-one (21) and have high school diploma or G.E.D., and three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
2. Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
3. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
4. Ability to speak effectively before groups of individuals or employees of the organization.
5. Good Math Skills, ability to add, multiply and divide.
6. Ability to pass physical agility test, as required by Tribal Law Enforcement Commission, consisting of the ability to; climb all floors of the BOC parking structure while carrying a departmental medical bag and then transmitting a report via radio to dispatch, safely lift and hold 50lbs for 30 seconds simulating assisting with a medical back board lift, climb a 5ft wall followed by a 4ft chain link fence.
7. Must undergo pre-employment and annual physical exam.
8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
9. Must be able to prove eligibility to work in the U.S.
10. Must possess a valid California drivers' license and comply with the requirements of the Tribe's driving policy and insurance requirements.
11. Preference will be given to individuals possessing E.M.T. certification. Individuals who do not possess E.M.T. certification must be willing to attend training for certification.

The applicant seeking a position with Tribal Security must not have been found guilty of, or entered a plea of nolo contendere or its equivalent to certain felonious offense, or any certain felonious or misdemeanor offenses under Federal, state or tribal law involving crimes of violence, sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, or prostitution, or crimes against persons, or offenses committed against children or any crimes of moral turpitude. Circumstances involving expungement, reductions, or similar changes in records of a conviction does not automatically alter qualification under this section and will be evaluated on a case by case base.

Physical Requirements:

This position and requires walking, standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time; climbing stairs and ramps, etc; stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching; pushing, pulling and lifting up to 30 pounds; raising objects overhead; manual dexterity for operation of computer and phones; hearing, talking and good verbal and written communication skills; repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and fingers; subject to outside environmental conditions of heat and cold; walking on uneven ground.

The candidate must be able to pass a physical agility test as required by Tribal Law Enforcement Commission. The physical agility will consist of climbing all floors of the Black Oak Casino (BOC) parking structure while carrying a departmental medical bag and then transmitting a report via radio to dispatch, safely lifting and holding 50 lbs for 30 seconds simulating assisting with a medical backboard lift, climb a 5 ft wall followed by a 4ft chain link fence.

Indian Preference:

Preference in filling vacancies shall be given first to qualified Tuolumne Me-Wuk Community Council Members and then to enrolled Native Americans of any federally recognized tribe.
