Under direction of the Information Technology Supervisor (IT Sup) II and/or Information Technology Manager (ITM) I, Chief, Informatics Data Exchange and Applications Section (IDEAS), the Information Technology Specialist (ITS) I performs a wide variety of tasks on complex statewide systems and projects including, on?premise and/or in?cloud including, but not limited to, requirements gathering, designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting of business and technical solution. The ITS I serves as a subject matter expert in the maintenance and support of on?premise and/or in?cloud systems; troubleshooting and fixing issues; providing production support and maintenance for mission critical systems, technical system configuration and upgrades; performance tuning; problem resolution; and collaborating with stakeholders and vendors in support of system functionality and enhancements as well as integrated testing of systems. Works with diverse technical and non?technical personnel and management at local, state, and federal levels to provide support on system website, manage certificates and data?exchange protocols. The ITS I performs duties within the Software Engineering, Client Services, System Engineering, Business Technology Management, and Information Security Engineering domains. This position may be required to work outside of work hours as needed to support mission critical systems. In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027.
