Working together, we’ll create a future that’s more connected, more intelligent, more sustainable for everyone.Role SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the next generation of vehicle access products, where traditional solutions like key fobs are replaced by mobile devices and wearables. In this role, you will work across the entire software stack and collaborate closely with our hardware and security teams. Vehicle access is a complex, customer-visible domain that requires strong collaboration with various vehicle software teams, as well as our cloud and mobile solutions. You''ll play a vital role in bringing innovative features to our customers, ensuring no two days are the same.Responsibilities Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of highly complex systems that deliver new access features, improved functionality, and better performance for how users interact with our vehicles. Ensure product quality by designing and implementing automated testing across various devices. Work with senior engineers to implement and integrate aspects of the hardware and software systems architecture to drive seamless functionality, performance, and reliability. Take assigned ideas through stages of concept, design, execution, deployment, and hardening in a production environment, with guidance from senior team members. Collaborate effectively with development and cross-functional team members in software (such as Charging, Body Controls, Infotainment, VUX teams) and EE/Hardware teams, contributing to both vehicle access and other cross-functional initiatives. Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, actively learning from and applying feedback from senior engineers to enhance your skills and understanding.Qualifications Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field. 2+ years of experience in integration and validation within the automotive or embedded systems domain. Proficiency in scripting languages (for example, Python) for automation or tooling. Strong expertise in designing and implementing functional automation test systems, including test automation frameworks and scripting. Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing. Experience with performance characterization and evaluation of electromechanical hardware. Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet, BLE, and UWB. Familiarity with embedded software development processes and tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Bonus Points For Proven experience with vehicle access systems (e.g., smart keys, passive entry/start, remote access, NFC, UWB).Pay DisclosureSalary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $116,300 - $145,400 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).Benefits SummaryRivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
