Position SummaryTo work in collaboration with the Nurse Manager to ensure each neighborhood provides safe, appropriate, and goal‑directed care, while supporting and directing nursing staff. The RN Supervisor is responsible for an on‑site schedule of 3–4 days per week, including weekends, and participates in a Nursing Leadership weekend rotation to maintain continuity of systems and protocols. Job Functions & ResponsibilitiesPromote Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values and ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.Demonstrate professionalism and flexibility in all situations.Represent the Children’s Center knowledgeably and with dignity when interacting with visitors and the community.Create and maintain an atmosphere of safety, warmth, and support that encourages residents, families, and staff to achieve their full potential.Provide supervision, support, and guidance to implement nursing theory and practice and deliver safe, goal‑directed care.Perform clinical evaluations for the physician on site and report findings for medical decisions.Guide and supervise nursing staff in the delivery of nursing care during evening and night tours of duty, ensuring continuity and evaluating quality of total care.Initiate investigations of care issues and family concerns in a timely manner, including incident reports, medication errors, and abuse/neglect reporting.Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to supervise and support nursing staff, including performance evaluations, coaching, and counseling.Interpret policies and procedures for staff and provide education and training as needed.Provide input to Team Leaders on employee performance and intervene as necessary, following Center rules and the 1199 bargaining unit regulations.Arrange coverage for scheduled shifts if unable to provide coverage as planned.Manage night medication cabinet and seek solutions when medication is needed.Attend management meetings, including Operations Meetings and other scheduled training.Round on neighborhoods to obtain clinical information, support staff, assist with family issues, and endorse information to the next shift, maintaining accurate, objective reports 24/7.Follow up on residents transferred to other facilities and report status to on‑coming shift, Team Leader, and physician.Communicate effectively with Center Departments regarding resident/family needs and document communications clearly.Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor, department director, or administrator. Education RequirementsGraduate of an accredited RN program.B.S. N. (required); M.S.N. preferred.RN in the State of New York.BCLS certificate.PALS certification preferred.Completion of courses required for continued RN license (e.g., Infection Control, Child Abuse). ExperienceMinimum of two years pediatric experience.Minimum of three years supervisory experience.Preferred experience in pediatric and adolescent chronic and restorative nursing modalities. Employee RequirementsFluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.Meet all health standards and requirements established by NYDOH and other regulatory agencies.Undergo a medical and physical examination as required by Center policies.Be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 35 pounds.Accept tasks that may involve exposure to resident blood/body fluids.Assist in evacuation of residents if necessary. Working ConditionsWork in a well‑lit and ventilated area.Subject to frequent interruptions.May be asked to work beyond normal hours or in other positions temporarily as needed.
