Filipino Studies Adjunct / Substitute Instructor Pool (College Credit) Inside Higher Ed is seeking qualified Filipino Studies faculty for part‑time and substitute positions in the San Diego Community College District. This role is part of the district’s adjunct instructor pool and may lead to assignments in the fall, spring, and summer semesters across City, Mesa, Miramar, and continuing education sites. Location: District Wide (commuting distance to San Diego) Position Type: Adjunct (part‑time/substitute) Bargaining Unit: AFT/College Faculty Salary: Adjunct College Salary Schedule (details available upon application). Final class/step placement is based on official transcripts or foreign degree evaluations. Major Responsibilities Design, deliver, and assess lecture and laboratory courses in Filipino Studies or related areas. Be available to students outside of class for academic support. Provide instruction in alignment with established curricula and course outlines. Maintain professional conduct, ethics, and current subject‑matter knowledge. Fulfill all duties of a part‑time or temporary faculty member, including attendance and timeliness. Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate attendance and grading records. Create an inclusive learning environment that encourages discussion of ideas, interests, and issues. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Filipino Studies, or Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies with a Bachelor’s in Filipino Studies, or an equivalent graduate degree. Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff. Degrees from regionally accredited institutions. Desired Qualifications Foreign degree holders who can provide evaluations from a NACES or ACEI‑approved credential evaluator. Completion of the Request for Equivalency Form and inclusion of all supporting documentation. Commitment to diversity: demonstrated sensitivity to multiple identities, including disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. Before Employment Submit official transcripts. Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every four years). Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer (clearance required before first day).
