Definition

Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Maintenance or their designee, the Lead Electronics Technician is responsible for designing, installing, troubleshooting, analyzing, repairing, maintaining, and installation of all types of electronics systems.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; five years' journeyman level experience within the past six years in the field of electronics, and two years of technical schooling, or equivalent, in electronics. Must have working knowledge of Federal and State fire codes. Must possess a State of Alaska 1-C Permit and or Level 3 NICET, and a valid unrestricted Alaska driver's license. Must be able to read schematics. Have an extensive knowledge of a variety of complex circuitry and electronic equipment as well as considerable diagnostic experience. It requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Essential Functions

1. Designs, prepares, installs, maintains, and repairs electronic systems including, but not limited to, fire alarm systems and equipment, P.A. systems, primary and secondary clock systems, scoreboards, theater sound, theater lighting, cameras, card readers, smart sensors, tsunami sirens and computer equipment.

2. Schedule work, and provides instruction and training to assigned personnel.

3. Performs work on a preventive maintenance program.

4. Utilize mastery of electrical circuits and equipment to diagnose problems

5. Responsible for training staff

6. Ability to use electronic repair and calibration equipment.

7. Modify complex electronic equipment to keep current with technological improvements.

8. Prepare cost estimates for equipment including material, labor requirements and installation;

9. Recommend equipment to accommodate borough needs;

10. Design electronic equipment and circuitry to user specification;

11. Diagnose equipment problems.

12. Interpret and work from plans, blueprints, specifications and established maintenance procedures.

13. Coordinates purchasing with appropriate personnel.

14. Responsible for cleaning up after each project. Leave work area, job site and vehicle clean and safe.

Other Functions:

1. Other related duties as assigned.

2. This position may require flying in small aircraft and being away from home overnight.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; walk; use hands and fingers dexterously to operate tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate orally. Vision abilities required. Must routinely transport heavy loads and be able to work off of a scaffolding, extension ladder, man-lift or bucket truck up to heights of 60 feet and towers in excess of 100 feet. *pro-rated is defined as $125.00 per month for an individual or $250.00 per month for a family, based on month of hire for new hires. This is based on the Boroughs contribution for a Full-Time employee of $1500.00 per year for an individual or $3000.00 per year for a family.
