Physician Assistant / Family Nurse Practitioner (Holden, MA) Established in 2012, Urgent Care Specialists, PC's mission was to bring a new approach to urgent care with local ties to the community through providers with emergency medicine experience "bringing ER expertise to life's little emergencies." Our vision is to continue growing the availability of this higher-level urgent medical care to more parts of the community while adding new, innovative technologies whenever possible to provide our patients with the most up-to-date and technologically advanced healthcare experience possible. Urgent Care Specialists, PC is seeking an experienced full-time Physician Assistant (PA) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to join our urgent care team at our Holden, MA, location. Highlights Only 13 shifts per monthFlexible scheduling8 or 10-hour Shifts (depending on the day of the week)Productivity and KPI BonusesComprehensive Benefits & Retirement PackageClosed most major holidaysMalpractice and Tail Coverage CME Allowance Job Responsibilities The PA/FNP is responsible for responding to patients' medical and health problems, including but not limited to collecting historical medical information, diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and providing referrals as appropriate. This individual will independently perform various clinical services and procedures, including treating acute episodic illnesses and injuries, such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains, and minor infections. They are also responsible for selecting and utilizing appropriate diagnostics or therapeutic procedures for patients. This position is also tasked with keeping informed of medical developments, drugs, treatments, and medications and promoting health education. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Obtain patient history and perform a physical examinationMake tentative diagnoses and decisions about the management and treatment of patientsPrescribe therapy or medication when appropriateAdminister or order diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory testsInterpret diagnostic test resultsObtain, compile, and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes, and results of physical examinationInstruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens or treatment plansEnter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in electronic medical record (EMR)Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, incision and drainage, splinting, suturing and wound care, and infection managementPerform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; Physician Assistant / Family Nurse Practitioner program requiredLicensed as a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse PractitionerMinimum of 3 years experience in an Emergency Department is requiredAppropriate certifications to write prescriptions under the authority of the medical leader, both federal and stateAbility to work under pressureGood bedside manner, emotional stability, and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situationsA desire for further education to keep up with ever-changing medical advancesExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent patient relationship skills Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
