Job Description Location: District 4 – could assist with any of the 7 counties listed below: Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Ottawa, Rogers, Wagoner or Washington. Salary — Level I: up to $56,088.00; Level II: up to $63,000; Level III: up to $66,205.00. Full Time / Part Time: Full time. Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday. Primary Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Position Description: SoonerStart is Oklahoma’s early intervention program designed to meet the needs of families with infants and toddlers (ages birth to 3 years old) with developmental delays and/or disabilities in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The program builds upon and provides supports and resources to assist family members to enhance infants or toddler’s learning and development through everyday learning opportunities. The Occupational Therapists in the SoonerStart program are primarily responsible for examining and treating children with physical impairments and/or difficulties through the use of physical modalities, self‑care and neurological needs. The goal is to assist the caregiver and child improve mobility and function to increase independent movement and other skills necessary for functioning in daily routines. This position is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services in Occupational Therapy. Services are provided in the child’s natural environment settings such as home or childcare. Services include screenings, evaluations, intervention, and parent education. Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions Provides early intervention services in the child and family’s natural environment (home, childcare, park, etc.). Makes recommendations concerning standardized treatments/intervention based on developmental indications. Completes child assessments concerning developmental, educational, and social skills/abilities. Participates in family interview. Conducts intakes, including client interviews, and assesses to make appropriate recommendations for services. Participates in the development and implementation of the Individualized Family Service Plan according to state and federal guidelines. Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team to monitor the effectiveness of child health and development services. Develops a treatment plan to address areas of need including routine‑based activities, neuro‑motor and sensory‑motor function/activities and child/family coaching and education sessions. Participates in the assessment, design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices. Evaluates the child’s response to treatment/intervention and makes recommendations on changes in treatment as required. Maintains confidential records of services including progress notes and evaluation reports in compliance with state and federal regulations. Participates as a mentor to Occupational Therapy Interns during their fieldwork experience. Other duties as assigned. Being present in the office is an essential function of this job. Minimum Qualifications The Occupational Therapist job family consists of four levels which are distinguished by the level of complexity of specific job assignments, the extent of responsibility assigned for specific tasks, and the level of expertise required for completion of the assigned work. Level I Basic level, performing beginning‑level professional work as an occupational therapist and developing technical skills in screening, evaluation, assessment, program planning, parent education and intervention while assisting in or performing various treatments. Requirements: master’s degree in occupational therapy and a current Oklahoma license as an Occupational Therapist issued by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision. Level II Full performance level, assuming a lead role in evaluation, assessment, program planning and intervention. Requirements: master’s degree in occupational therapy, current Oklahoma license, and one year of professional experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist; advanced‑level master’s or Doctorate in pediatric rehabilitative services, pediatric occupational therapy, special education, or a closely related field may substitute for the required experience. Level III Specialist level, assigned advanced duties. May assume a lead role in evaluation, assessment, program planning, intervention, and supervise occupational therapy students during fieldwork. Requirements: master’s degree in occupational therapy, current Oklahoma license, and three years of professional experience; advanced‑level master’s or Doctorate may substitute for two years of required experience. Valued Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the principles, practices, and ethics of professional occupational therapy; therapeutic techniques and their application; and materials used in occupational therapy programs. Ability to use therapeutic equipment, evaluate various skills and abilities, administer treatments or conduct planned activities; establish effective working relationships; communicate effectively in writing and orally; exercise initiative and independent judgment; and mentor occupational therapy student interns during field work experience. Travel Requirements Applicants must be willing to perform all job‑related travel associated with any of these positions. Occasional in‑state overnight and weekend travel may be required. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is typically performed in the child’s natural environment or in an office setting with climate control and moderate noise. Telework and remote service provision may also be required. Employees are required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms and may lift up to 35 pounds. Being present in the office is an essential function of this job.
