Primary responsibility is to lead and work with a team to provide a high level of cleanliness for the Azusa campus. This position reports to the Custodial Manager. Required EducationHigh school graduate or equivalent experience and education.Required ExperienceFive to seven years in custodial work, including three years in supervising a culturally diverse staff. Position requires a valid California Driver's License.Primary Duties/Essential FunctionsSchedules custodial staff for night shift areas of responsibility.Provides custodial training for new employees and student employees for night shifts.Monitors and evaluates performance of all employees to assure all working procedures are being completed efficiently.Interviewing, hiring and supervising student employees.Assist with completing and processing all new hire paperwork.Monitors and evaluates performance of all night shift employees.Work on the computer using Web TMA, Kronos, Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.The ability to use the TMA work order system to submit and complete work orders as needed.Evaluates products, requisitions, and issues supplies as needed. Maintains supply and equipment inventory by keeping all files current and up to date. Makes recommendations on matters of discipline, promotions, overtime, performance evaluations, and other personnel functions. Responsible for night shift electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.Performs cleaning duties in the event that personnel is short staffed due to absences or vacations.Responds to call outs and works orders on campus.Ability to perform all custodial duties as assigned by the supervisor, including cleansing of restrooms, summer housing, carpets, and any other detail cleaning tasks on campus.Inspects and assesses building locations for work order requests. If necessary, submit work order requests for custodial care.Ability to transport cleaning materials to buildings on both campuses as necessary.Maintain the organization and cleanliness of custodial warehouse and closets.Regular, punctual attendance is required by the supervisor based on department needs.Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.SkillsKnowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.Must have the necessary skills to do on the job training for staff employees and student workers.Strong organization, leadership, and project management skills with ability to meet deadlines.Ability to adapt and lead through change.Skilled in the use of the following equipment/machinery: vacuum; wet/dry vacuum; carpet extractor; hi-speed floor machine 1500 rpm; side by side floor machine 700 rpm.Mental DemandsAbility to follow oral/written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain working relations with supervisor, fellow workers, and students.Must be able to communicate in English with the ability to relay instructions from the supervisor to student workers.Able to complete tasks efficiently within a designated time frame.Ability to learn procedures and retain information.In agreement with the purpose and goals of Azusa Pacific University in providing a Christian-based higher education for its students.Physical DemandsAbility to perform manual tasks requiring moderate strength using equipment/machinery as listed above.Ability to stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, grasp, and climb.Able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.Availability to drive a campus vehicle.Visual DemandsComputer monitor and reading. EnvironmentSubject to hazards of machinery, equipment, and exposure to chemicals.Conditions that could affect skin or respiratory systems - fumes, odors, dust, or poor ventilation.At times performing tasks in high heat or cold conditions. TechnologiesProficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. CompensationGrade 6: $17.72 to $20.38 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
