6 months + W2 contract for a Data Center Technician in Portland/Salem, OR. Covering from Longview, WA to Oregon Coast

Field Technician

Responsibilities:

  • Install, operate, and maintain networking equipment and infrastructure at various client facilities.
  • Diagnose and resolve network hardware, software, and infrastructure issues with minimal customer service impact.
  • Conduct network circuit performance testing and ensure correct operation.
  • Install and maintain infrastructure, including cross-connects, cable management, and equipment labeling.
  • Perform overnight maintenance as needed and organize work schedules for installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Act as a point of contact for network outages and support contractors on-site.
  • Conduct site audits and maintain accurate documentation of facilities and work performed.
  • Support critical systems maintenance (electrical, HVAC, fire suppression) and assist in new facility deployments and upgrades.
  • Ensure safety standards are met and maintained at all times.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree or trade school preferred.
  • 3+ years of technical facilities and networking experience in telecom, network service providers, or data centers.
  • Proficient with telecom equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Adva, Ciena), fiber optic circuits, and telecom power systems.
  • Knowledge of network circuits (DWDM/CWDM, Ethernet, IP, MPLS) and telecom testing equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and travel within a 100+mi radius.
  • Valid driver's license required and reliable SUV/4x4/Truck

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation for emergency support.
  • Maintain a 100% safe working environment.
