Neonatal Genomics, Riley Children's Health
2 weeks ago
The Division of Neonatology at Riley Children's at Indiana University Health is looking to expand the Perinatal Genomics program. At least 40% of NICU patients at Riley Hospital for Children have symptoms of genetic disease and now, 12% have a confirmed diagnosis due to the innovative work of our Perinatal Genomics program. This first of its kind program was founded in 2021 to fill a need for personalized genomic care for our most vulnerable patients. Kristen R. Suhrie, MD leads the program and has worked to standardize genomic care in the NICU, support families throughout the diagnostic process, and study outcomes for patients needing genetic services.
Riley Hospital for Children serves as the primary referral center for NICU patients requiring level IV NICU care in Indiana. Due to the early success of the Perinatal Genomics program, Indiana University Health is working to provide genomic care for NICU patients across the state.
