Our company, a leader in the manufacturing industry, is looking for a motivated and skilled Permanent Automation Technician to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the growth and success of our company. As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for conducting research & development focused on designing and advancing equipment automation and novel processes. Engage in researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems This is a full-time, permanent position that offers competitive compensation and benefits. In this role, you will travel to different plants and suppliers locally. No overnight travel required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and data analysis, documenting and tracking projects, and producing relevant reports.
- Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software, including CAD, for engineering tasks and designs.
- Collaborate with staff and plant personnel to resolve issues, gather information, and aid in design development.
- Assist in evaluating the feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities, considering various technical and economic factors.
- Provide technical problem-solving support to Divisions, employing designed experimentation and engineering principles to resolve issues.
- Develop wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for equipment modifications or expansions.
- Fabricate and test experimental motor control devices, control panels, transformers, and other electrical components.
- Maintain positive relationships with equipment and electrical vendors, exploring new potential sources and negotiating terms.
- Initiate purchase requisitions, expedite orders for timely delivery, and maintain records for billing and invoicing.
- Adhere to safety regulations and ensure a clean and organized work area.
- Bachelors degree in a technical field preferred
- 3+ years of experience
- Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming using software such as Studio 5000 Logix, RSLogix 500, EZWARE, Siemens, etc.
- Thorough understanding of ladder logic concepts
- Familiarity with computer networking techniques and concepts
- Comprehensive grasp of mechanical engineering principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in CAD software
