Executive Director of Digital Platforms

General Definition of Work The executive director of digital platforms, under minimal supervision, performs senior-level work with extensive decision-making discretion applying advanced subject matter knowledge and oversight of the district's digital platforms and technology services. This position supports communication, collaboration, operations, and vendor partnerships to ensure enterprise-level digital solutions are effectively integrated into both instructional and operational environments. Employee performs advanced and supervisory work to carry out the Board of Education policies and procedures under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer. Salary/Status Pay Grade 11/Full-time, 12 months Reports To Chief Technology Officer Place of Work The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time. Essential Functions Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district Investigate, analyze, and formulate methods for handling special projects/reports Oversee district-wide technology projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, on-time delivery, budget adherence, and quality assurance across platforms Provide strategic oversight of the district's enterprise technology platforms, including the content management system, ticketing system, the district technology help desk, and other key applications supporting communication, collaboration, and operational effectiveness Direct the vendor digital acquisition process, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and alignment with district technology standards and goals Ensure district-wide compliance with ADA accessibility mandates for all digital platforms and services Provide leadership and oversight of project management practices across Technology Services, including standard methodologies, prioritization, and reporting Manage technical architecture of district websites, including scripting, database design, user interface design, and multimedia integration such as artwork, text, video, and animations Oversee the planning, development, and execution of web development strategies, ensuring the district's internet and intranet infrastructure supports educational and operational objectives Collaborate with Communications etc., to ensure district web content is accurate, timely, and aligned with the district's objectives Collaborate to create web-appropriate content; integrate multimedia components and ensure consistency with district branding and graphic standards Collect and interpret web analytics data, identifying opportunities to improve search engine optimization (SEO), user engagement, and web traffic Develop and implement strategies to enhance the district's online presence and usability Administer accounts and user permissions for web platforms Ensure the maintenance and ownership of district internet domains while upholding compliance with state, federal, and local laws, software licenses, district policies, and ethical standards Oversee/ensure adherence to security, privacy, and intellectual property laws Participate in the development and administration of the department budget Collaborate with cross-functional areas for resolution of tickets and issues Oversee creation and sustainability of standard operational procedures, best practices, etc. Facilitate/participate in professional development and attend other related meetings Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations Perform related work as assigned or required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public-school system policies and technology programs Comprehensive knowledge of hardware and software systems, including those used to develop and maintain internet and intranet websites, with specific expertise in enterprise platforms such ServiceNow (ITSM), learning management systems (LMS), and ITIL-based service management practices Thorough knowledge of industry-standard project management frameworks (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Trello) to lead large-scale, cross-functional technology initiatives from inception to completion Thorough knowledge of federal accessibility standards, including ADA and Section 508 compliance, and the ability to apply accessibility best practices across digital platforms and services Thorough knowledge of technology vendor management processes, including digital acquisition, evaluation, and contract oversight Thorough knowledge of technical manuals, guides, and documentation to assist with work processes and standardization Skilled in identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with technology projects, including the ability to develop and execute risk mitigation strategies Skilled in HTML, scripting, graphics editing, database design, and user interface (UI) design; as well as understanding web capabilities, limitations, service requirements, and associated costs Skilled in integrating and optimizing enterprise technology platforms (e.g., CMS, intranet, LMS, ServiceNow, ticketing/help desk systems) to support district-wide operational and educational needs Skilled in software and hardware solutions supporting district-wide operations, including internet/intranet management, LMS platforms, service management platforms, and digital communication systems Skilled in technology integration, including the ability to align instructional and operational technologies with district strategic goals Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment, or software related to business needs Ability to develop and monitor a budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility in technology operations and acquisitions Ability to direct, supervise, and evaluate the work of others Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment and executive-level decision-making Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business Ability to develop related charts, graphs, reports, and records Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs, services, and platforms Ability to model and facilitate safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies Demonstrated ability to develop detailed project plans, risk assessments, and associated risk mitigation actions Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment Education And Experience Bachelor's degree required Minimum of five (5) years' experience in program/project management preferred Experience leading software implementations in public education preferred Experience designing/developing web sites and third-party integration preferred Equivalent combination of education and experience Special Requirements Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings Seniority level Executive Employment type Full-time Job function Engineering and Information Technology Primary and Secondary Education, Education Administration Programs, and Government Administration #J-18808-Ljbffr
