Working at the University and Living in Reno In 2019, the University achieved one of the most prestigious honors an institution of higher learning can ever receive: It was chosen as one of just 130 universities by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as an “R1” institution — “very high research activity” — which is reserved for doctoral-granting universities with exceptional levels of research activity. In 2020, it was announced that the University had reached the prestigious Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement, becoming one of only 119 institutions in the country so honored. The College of Business is now the largest school at the University of Nevada, Reno, growing by nearly 30% over the last decade to more than 3,500 students in its programs. Projections show the college’s enrollment growth will be sustained with estimates of the College of Business enrolling more than 4,000 students in the near future. This tremendous growth demonstrates the need for significant investment in the college’s future. There is no state income tax in Nevada. The University makes a 19.25% matching contribution, which is an unusually generous employer match by any standard. Lake Tahoe is a 45-minute drive from the University. The proximity of Lake Tahoe and the High Sierras is just one reason Reno-Tahoe is known as one of the best areas for outdoor sports and recreation. For outdoor activities, you can't beat Lake Tahoe. With snow activities, water sports, hiking, biking, golf, rock climbing, fishing, horseback riding, and so much more, the only limit to what you can do is your imagination. #J-18808-Ljbffr
