Position Title: Hospitalist – Internal Medicine (Academic Hospitalist) Position OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and academically oriented Hospitalist to join our Internal Medicine faculty team. This position offers a unique blend of clinical care, resident supervision, and educational responsibilities in an academic hospital setting. The role is structured as 12-hour overnight shifts on a one-week-on, one-week-off schedule. Key ResponsibilitiesProvide inpatient medical care for adult patients as part of the hospital medicine team.Perform admissions from the Emergency Department and transfers from outside facilities.Respond to Rapid Response Team (RRT) calls; no code team or procedural responsibilities required.Supervise and staff patient care with internal medicine residents.Teach and mentor medical students and residents in clinical reasoning, documentation, and bedside care.Participate in formal and informal evaluations of learners; contribute to feedback and educational assessments.Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe handoffs and continuity of care.Collaborate with day teams and hospital leadership to support high-quality inpatient care and education. QualificationsMD or DO degree; board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine.Eligible for medical licensure in Michigan.Strong interest and demonstrated ability in clinical teaching and medical education.Prior hospitalist experience preferred but not required.
