Summary: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides resident care and support in all activities of daily living and ensures the health, welfare, and safety of all residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with serving meals and feeding, providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  • Providing personal hygiene assistance, including bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves, and assisting with travel to the bathroom and showers.
  • Ambulating, turning, and positioning residents.
  • Maintaining resident stability by checking vital signs and weight, and recording intake and output information.
  • Providing for resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials, answering call lights and requests, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
  • Documenting actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Protecting privacy and dignity by keeping patient information confidential and complying with HIPAA guidelines and related laws.
  • Adhering to professional standards, company policies, and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements, including JCAHO standards.
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.


Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/C.N.A.) in accordance with state laws.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Preferred: long-term care experience.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.


Physical Demands:

  • Regularly sit, stand, bend, and walk.
  • Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory ability sufficient for written and verbal communication.
  • Usual noise level: moderate.
