MRI Technologist Key responsibilities include providing high‑quality MRI services while ensuring patient safety in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The technologist works independently under their license, maintaining accountability for patient care and ongoing professional development. Shift & Schedule PRN – Saturday & Sunday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Essential Functions / Performance Expectations Apply theoretical knowledge to operate MRI equipment and accessories, following established procedures. Assess clinical situations, exercise professional judgment, and act in the best interest of patients. Collect and convey relevant information to physicians, recognizing that interpretation is outside the scope of practice. Adopt techniques that minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and the environment. Enforce MRI safety protocols, including clearing MRI‑compatible devices before scans. Participate in the Radiology Career Ladder program to maintain or advance job level based on performance. Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program, MRI Certification Program, or ARMRIT Program. Preferred current Texas state license (TMB) for Radiology Technologists; no license restricts outside‑MRI work. ARRT (MR) registration or eligibility, or ARMRIT registration or eligibility. Preferred one year of diagnostic technologist experience. Obtain MRI registry within one year of eligibility (six months for ARMRIT path). Maintain 24 CEU credits every 2 years (ARRT/TMB) or 3 years (ARMRIT). Complete total Joint & Spine Center education: 1.5 hours annually. Physical Requirements Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak, and hear; lifting limited to 35 lbs for clinical staff and 50 lbs for non‑clinical staff, with assistance for heavier loads.
