The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. SFDPH strives to achieve its mission through the work of two main Divisions - the San Francisco Health Network and Population Health.

The eligible list resulting from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future and current vacancies in this class at other locations within the DPH for the duration of the eligible list.

Under general medical and nursing direction performs specialized clinical nursing duties in hospitals, clinics, health centers, and individual homes, as part of a clinical team, manages the nursing care of a selected group of patients; provides education, training, information and consultation services to registered nurses, public health nurses, and others in the area of specialty.
How to qualifyMinimum Qualifications
- Education: Possession of a Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
- License and Certification:
- Registered Nurse License: Possession of a valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing; AND
- Clinical Nurse Specialist Certificate: Possession of a valid Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) certificate issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Verification of experience, education, licensure and possession of valid certifications/certificates may be collected at any time during or after the recruitment and selection process.
Desirable Qualifications
- Pediatric
- Possession of certificate in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing from NCC or AACN or certified by AACN
- Possession of certificate in Pediatric from AACN
- Possession or NRP Certificate
- Possession of PALS certification
- Critical Care
- Critical care experience within the last year or within the last three years if taken time off to obtain APRN degree.
- Expertise in at least two of the following populations and competencies: traumatic brain injury, continuous renal replacement therapy, burns, and mechanical circulatory support.

Candidates will be required to complete an MQSQ as part of the employment application. This MQSQ is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicant's experience in relation to the Minimum Qualifications (MQ) for this position. The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.
Training and Experience Evaluation: (Weight: 100%)
Candidates that meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in a Training and Experience Evaluation that is designed to measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities in job related areas that have been identified as critical for satisfactory performance in this position.
The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of Ten Scores.
The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be 6 months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
