Data Management Analyst/Sr. Data Management Analyst – Office of Budget and Planning (Contractual) Join the International Monetary Fund as a Data Management Analyst/Sr. Data Management Analyst – Office of Budget and Planning (Contractual) to support the Office of Budget and Planning (OBP) which oversees the Fund’s administrative and capital budgets. Job Summary Under the guidance of the Budget Manager, the selected candidate will perform day‑to‑day administration of data management in accordance with established procedures in OBP. The incumbent will participate in data management activities including data analytics, data visualization, data quality management, and other budget system related activities and initiatives across systems such as Costing, the PeopleSoft Time Reporting, IBM TM1 Budget Planning and Analytics, Power BI Budget Reporting, Workday HR interfaces, Clarizen Capacity Development, and several Fund‑wide modernization projects. Major Duties and Responsibilities Assist with tasks to support the efficient and effective use of budget systems and perform data management tasks in support of departmental and Fund‑Wide usage. Assist with maintaining relevant technical information and database environments in coordination with ITD to ensure data accuracy. Assist with designing, building, and optimizing enterprise‑grade analytics and visualization solutions using Power BI and Microsoft’s SQL stack. Assist with analyzing requirements and ongoing assessments of departmental business needs, identifying and implementing technical solutions to simplify business functions, and collaborating with ITD. Participate in design, development, modification, testing, and implementation of systems and datasets, including data security, backup/recovery specifications, and evaluation of current budget systems. Assist with information gathering from internal and external sources, preparing data for requests, and producing data‑driven reports and presentations. Utilize advanced knowledge in computer science or software engineering to develop prototype solutions for Budget teams. Support inventory and technical assessment of OBP’s SQL‑based applications, databases, and reports, recommending strategies for consolidation, migration, optimization, or retirement, and documenting integration points through ER diagrams and data flow maps. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a university degree in programming/systems, computer science, statistics, finance, mathematics, economics, or a related field, or a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related position at Grade A05 or equivalent is required. Preferred Competencies Experience supporting financial and/or budget systems and data management. Experience assessing business system needs, documenting requirements, and participating in SDLC activities. Experience performing data analytics, data extraction, validation, and visualization. Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple activities under tight deadlines. Competence in handling sensitive confidential matters with discretion. Experience conducting system analysis and fit‑gap assessments. Specialized Skills / Knowledge Proficiency in Visual Basic, Power Query, DAX, SQL, PL/SQL, Power BI (required; tested technically). Prior experience with IBM Planning & Analytics (TM1) is desirable. Microsoft Certified Power BI Analyst, Java, JavaScript, Python, R are added advantages. Database architecture review, schema analysis, data migration, archival strategies, and ER diagram documentation. Only candidates currently residing in the Washington D.C. metro area will be considered. This is a one‑year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending performance, budget availability, and continuing business need.
