This position is located 100% onsite at our Black Mountain, NC facility. Essential Functions Direct the management of the material requirement planning, purchasing, warehousing, shipping and receiving departments. Ensure the plans and activities of scheduling, procurement, receiving and storing of materials enable Kearfott to meet rigorous production needs. Work collaboratively with Contracts, Programs, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and other company locations to achieve business objectives. Assure inventory availability and movement of materials, supplies and services meet production and delivery schedules. Develop short‑ and long‑range material management programs to minimize inventory costs and meet schedule requirements. Provide alternate strategies in the event of unforeseen contingencies. Ensure accurate evaluation of inventory and production capacities and plans in relation to current and long‑range commitments. As director, assure all team members are accountable for performance through clear direction and fair, objective criteria. Optimize the use of assets to meet/exceed sales and production schedules. Prepare and control operating budgets for all departments with the Materials Management group. Operations Strategic Planning & Development Creates the strategic operations plan, including integration of S&OP, 5‑year business development forecasts, corporate strategy, and cross‑site forecasts. Drives production costs to the lowest possible level in collaboration with other Kearfott sites. Facilitates the development of talent and skills in the workforce. Strives to achieve operational excellence by providing internal and external customers with industry‑leading quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost. Works continuously to improve relevant processes and minimize COPQ. Provides mentorship and coaching to direct reports to guide them and drive better processes, procedures, and overall operations. Critical Competencies Develops the strategic direction for the supply chain and logistics function. Thinks strategically and “out of the box” while providing hands‑on leadership. Develops individuals and teams by mentoring, coaching, and empowering; advocates continuous learning. Provides requisite leadership, mentoring, coaching and motivation. Education & Experience 10+ years of experience in Materials Management, Production Control, and Supply Chain with progressive management responsibilities (within an aerospace environment strongly preferred). Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline required; advanced degree (including MBA) preferred. Certifications: APICS preferred; Green Belt required, Black Belt preferred. Working knowledge of ERP systems (IFS, SAP, etc.). Working knowledge of FAR, DFAR and CPSR requirements is necessary. Direct experience supporting audits (AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, USG Cost and Pricing audits). Supply chain experience including negotiation of purchase orders, blanket and long‑term agreements. Demonstrated ability to communicate status and recovery plans with customers is required. Experience with both Master Scheduling, S&OP, and project scheduling required. Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate across all functions and at all levels of the organization. Must be U.S. citizen. Must be able to work on U.S. government programs and obtain a security clearance if needed. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
