TS/SCI Principal Systems Engineer

Principal Systems Engineer - active TS/SCI clearance Suitland, MD - on-site Base Pay Range $150,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr Description We are hiring a Principal Systems Engineer to support our government customer based in our Suitland, MD location. The position is required to be onsite and requires an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph. The Senior-level Principal Systems Engineer shall lead a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of information technology engineers to tackle unique and complex challenges to achieve objectives tasked to the activity's IT Architecture and Engineering (A&E) team in direct support of business and mission-focused needs. Responsibilities Drive the A&E team and directly support the performance of system integration, performance analysis, requirements engineering and management, testing and evaluation, and other Systems Engineering disciplines for successful system/solution development, design, implementation, and decommissioning. Perform analysis, design, deployment, and lifecycle support for innovative IT systems, applications, and services, and ensure all aspects of a project/system are properly evaluated and integrated with the end capability. Oversee the A&E team performing engineering analysis of disconnected and legacy systems to identify duplicative capabilities, gaps, critical activities, candidates for scaling to enterprise-level, streamlining opportunities, efficiencies, and overall areas for improvement. Identify issues affecting end-to-end performance of systems, provide engineering support to system testing and modeling efforts, and assist in the development and implementation of strategic solutions. Support analysis and determination of risk probability and impact, prioritization of perceived risks, and establish risk monitoring and management strategies. Qualifications 7+ years of progressive experience successfully leading the employment of systems engineering techniques, methodologies, processes, and practices to architect, design, engineer, implement, test, secure, and deliver a variety of enterprise-grade IT solutions across multi-platform information systems. 5+ years of experience designing, engineering, implementing, and maintaining solutions in secure processing environments adhering to U.S. Government Information Assurance and Security standards such as DISA SRGs and STIGs. Strong knowledge and demonstrated technical experience working with Microsoft-based operating systems and enterprise-grade applications and services including Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, SharePoint, Skype for Business, SQL Server, Windows, and Server. Demonstrated experience in leveraging and providing system engineering within an established SDLC program. Experience capturing, analyzing, and decomposing stakeholder and/or product requirements to generate design solutions that will be implemented, tested, and transitioned to the operational environment, acknowledging technical, compliance, schedule, and cost constraints. Experience leading, directing, and evaluating task execution and performance for globally dispersed teams to successfully meet objectives, goals, and deadlines as expected. Experience performing advanced troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues while preserving configuration and the overall INFOSEC posture of the environment. Meets the Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) Research and Development Specialist (661); Advanced Level for SECNAV M-5239.2 compliance. Education/Certification Graduate Degree from accredited University; or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering from an ABET or NCAE accredited institution; OR one of the following: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM); Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); CompTIA Security+; CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+); GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC). Desired Qualifications Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Core Infrastructure or Productivity and Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC); Other enterprise-level OS, application, and technology certifications (Citrix, Cisco, NetApp, Red Hat, Splunk, VMware) are a plus. Experience with newer Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Windows 10, Windows Server 2016, SQL Server 2016, IIS 10). Experience with *nix-based OSs such as KVM, RHEL, VMware vSphere ESXi. Experience leveraging Microsoft PowerShell for automation, IaC, and configuration as code. Experience drafting and producing SDLC products (requirements, System Concepts, Project Plan, SEMP, CONOPs, Validation Plans, etc.). Experience providing mentorship and OJT to junior members. Experience with Systems of Systems Engineering projects. Working knowledge of enterprise-grade IT architecture stack. Familiarity with SSE techniques, methodologies, and Cyber Resiliency considerations. Familiarity with secure coding and software development practices.
