OverviewThe Criminal Justice Section, Habeas Corpus Unit is seeking an Assistant Attorney General with at least five years of practice experience, a preference for appellate practice, and prosecutorial experience. The candidate will possess excellent legal research and writing skills and excel in appellate advocacy. This hybrid in‑person/remote position is headquartered in Columbus, OH.ResponsibilitiesRepresent the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in responding to habeas petitions filed in state court pursuant to R.C. 2725.Defend the Department in federal court pursuant to 28 U.S.C. 2244 and 28 U.S.C. 2254 and against claims of unlawful detention.QualificationsLicensed to practice law in Ohio pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised Code.At least five years of practice experience, with a preference for appellate practice.SkillsAttorney/Legal knowledgeCollaboration and teamworkAttention to detailStrategic thinkingVerbal and written communicationNegotiation #J-18808-Ljbffr
