Job Description

The CAD Drafter Intern will provide essential support to the Sales team in the specification, design, and drafting of building construction components, specifically for suspended ceiling systems. This role encompasses a range of tasks from high-level concept sketches to detailed architectural specification drawings. The intern will collaborate closely with a Sales CAD designer to produce accurate and detailed drawings, concepts, and assemblies tailored to the Sales team's requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Completion of specific details using Armstrong products for building construction
  • 2D drafting using AUTOCAD for component level parts and sub-assemblies
  • 3D solid modeling will be utilized using AutoCAD Inventor
  • Managing a library of CAD details and files based on a project file structure
  • Technical knowledge is needed of basic construction practices to create technical drawings & assemblies.
  • Familiarity with basic construction methods (fasteners, cutting, and assembly operations for a construction)
  • Will need to interact with sales, product development, and management via phone, email, video calls and in person
  • Deliver accurate drawings that meet the expected turn around timing of 4 business days.
  • Prioritizing, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Complete design projects and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Working towards an Associate degree or Certificate in Computer-Aided Design, Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • CAD Drafter proficient in AutoCAD 2016+
  • 2D Design using AutoCAD, preferred
  • 3D solid modeling using AutoCAD Inventor, preferred
  • Use of Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
